Online escape rooms as a beneficial tool for people with disabilities

Escape rooms typically involve a group of people solving puzzles and challenges in order to escape a themed room before time runs out. However, the virtual format of online escape rooms makes them easily accessible to anyone with an internet connection, allowing young people from all over the world to participate and learn together.

Individuals with disabilities or limited mobility, people living in remote areas with limited access to educational resources, or those facing economic or social barriers may find it difficult to access traditional educational opportunities. Therefore, online escape rooms offer a solution to this problem by providing an accessible, immersive and interactive learning experience that can be easily accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.

Online escape rooms offer a level playing field for people with fewer opportunities. By removing physical and geographical barriers, they enable everyone to participate in learning and skill-building activities. This makes them an ideal tool for promoting social inclusion, encouraging active participation, and boosting self-esteem.

Moreover, online escape rooms can be tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of learners, further enhancing their accessibility. Participants can choose the level of difficulty, the theme of the challenges, and the pace of the learning process. This makes it possible for learners to engage with content that resonates with them, while also challenging themselves to develop new skills and knowledge.

Having this in mind, we designed our 24 online escape rooms that can be checked on our e-learning platform: https://co-art-hub.eu/.
